Okay, so.. I figured everyone around town was getting one of these (I think the mayor said something about it helping us be a tight knit community?), and it's nothing like jumping off a bridge, and seemed kind of fun, so I got one too!
Which means this is the first entry. Ever. Isn't that exciting? It's all shiny and new still! New journal smell! Awesome.
So, I guess I should introduce myself and tell you about me now, right?
Okay, here goes. I'm Andrea Valenti, I'm 19, and I was adopted when I was 7. I don't know (or care!), who my birth parents are. Not anymore, anyways. Mom and Dad (the Valenti's, duh) are awesome. Mom's a vet, and dad works in some big business that's a 45 minute drive from home.. Oh! When I was 9 my cousin came to live with us.. Which wasn't so great at first, but it got better.
I started taking dance classes and piano lessons that summer. Which was a lot of fun. The next summer I started taking karate and guitar lessons too. Even more fun! My cousin totally had a thing for the teacher too.
That was all back in Colorado though. We didn't move to Reesyn until I was 12. Only a couple weeks before 6th grade started. I didn't join any of my activities here until the next summer though, since mom wanted me to catch up with school and adjust. But I started dance and karate as soon as I could (I just practiced the piano and guitar at home. I never really got very good at the guitar though.. I can strum out a couple songs, but that's it). My lessons made 7th grade easier, 'cause I made friends over the summer. 8th too.
Then high school happened. I was so, so nervous that first day! But it wasn't too bad.. pretty boring for the most part. I had a couple classes that were really boring, so I didn't always go to those. I also stayed out late with my cousin and had fun. Oh! I joined Choir, Volleyball, and Track too! (It was a lot to juggle, but volleyball was for the colder season, track the warmer ones, karate met on Saturdays during the school year, and my dance class was a little later in the afternoons, so if I hurried, I made it on time.)
10th and 11th grade where kind of the same. I skipped school a few times in 10th, but kept all my activities. In 11th I dropped volleyball and started smoking (my mom still doesn't know. She's going to kill me when she finds out!). 12th grade was a little worse though.. I was so, so bored with school for the most part. But I showed up and got good enough grades to keep doing track. And so my parents didn't make me quit the band. I did have to take trigonometry this summer though, so I could graduate. That was super lame.
But the band got a bunch of gigs this summer, graduation parties mostly, so that was awesome. Speaking of the band, Dahnay's our drummer, Kylee's on keyboards, ? plays guitar, ?'s our bassist, and I sing! (and if we ever do anything slow and epic, I will so play the piano, I'm pretty awesome on it!)
Um.. A lot of people are starting college in a few weeks, but I'm not one of them. I didn't want to go to more school right now. Maybe later. Right now I'm playing with the band, earning belts in karate, and dancing! Oh.. and I guess I'm looking for a job too. It's just, I love my parents, but I want my own space, you know? |
